Oasis: The Greatest Band of the 90's
74My Favorite Band of the 90's: Oasis
This article is dedicated to my favorite band, in my opinion the greatest band of the nineties- Oasis the band. My obsession first began in 1995 at the age of 12 when I discovered the album Definitely Maybe. I fell in love with Oasis music instantly. I spent every moment of every day playing each track over and over again. It was only obvious these lads from Manchester had a fascination with The Beatles, as did I. In my opinion, Oasis' sound was quite similar to The Beatles and The Rolling Stones which is partly the reason why I was so drawn to them. Yet, everything about these guys were original, unique, and refreshing. Lead vocalist Liam Gallagher originally formed a band called The Rain in 1991 and later suggested the band name be changed to Oasis. Liam invited his older brother Noel Gallagher, (a roadie for Inspiral Carpets) to join the band. Noel accepted Liam's offer as long as he became the band's sole songwriter and leader.
Liam's voice and stage presence is easily recognizable. He remains one of the greatest figures in the 1990's Britpop movement. Noel Gallagher was nicknamed "the chief" because of his creativity, control, and the promise of superstardom he brought to Oasis. I think Noel is and always will be the most illustrious singer/songwriters out there. The Gallagher brothers are musical masterminds who have left a lasting impression on me and my own songwriting. Over the years Liam and Noel replaced the entire band, but we are reminded of their effortless rise to fame more than fifteen years ago, with the release of Definitely Maybe .
Music is whatever you make it and Oasis band have certainly made it! Below you will find Oasis discography, Oasis music videos, Oasis mp3 from the nineties. Enjoy.

really liked wonderwall, love your hub, very well written and the layout is awesome, thanks for sharing. take care.
Hi Nicky, this brings back memories. Oasis had their ups and downs but they brought rock music back onto the scene and encouraged me to buy my first guitar and form a band. They had some great songs and personality. Great hub, well written, lots of good detail.
How have you just discovered Oasis? they were one of the biggest bands in the 90,s and I love Oasis but Tom Radford how can you say they brought rock back onto the scene? Have you heard of Nirvana, Metallica and Pearl Jam they brought rock back in once Smells Like Teen Spirit landed it shifted all of pop culture. But Oasis best band of 90,s.
Sorry, dude, but for Nineties' bands I prefer Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Soundgarden. Yes, I dig grunge. To each his own, right? Later!
I've been a huge fan of Oasis since the early days, shame they are no more. Nice write up.
..really can't argue with this choice - although some may say - you know who - lol lol - they come from Ireland - lol - but I'll stick with you on this one says Hubpage's resident musicologist and will post this with pride to my Facebook page with a direct link back here so we can both turn on some more new Oasis fans - and yes my favorite is Don't Look back in anger which reminds me for some reason of a John Lennon tune.

... a very good and valid point ..... obviously you know and 'love' your music ..... lake erie time ontario canada 9:49am with second cup of coffee and thank you for your royal endorsement of my humble little hubpage - coming from a special person like you - well that really means a lot .
Great stuff. I've always been a big Oasis fan and was sorry to see them split. That said, I did hear some of Noels latest songs recently and I'm very impressed. Oasis used to be massive in the UK, especially when there was the huge rivalry with Blur for a time. I miss those BritPop days. Some great music came out of that time period.
Nicky,
Nice article on Oasis. (What's The Story)Morning Glory? is such an excellent album. Great to see the All Around the World video again, with its semi Yellow Submarine influence.
What's your opinion about the Beady Eye and Noel Gallagher albums?
Marshall
You're welcome! Looking forward to reading your future reviews of the albums, and your other Hubs, too.
